Do you allow pets?

We love our four legged friends as much as you but unfortunately we can not allow pets at this time.

Is there a charge for additional guests?

Yes, we charge $40 more for each guest over 2. This helps us keep our nightly rental at a minimum cost.

Are there outdoor Fire Pits?

Pappaws Fishing Pad has 3 Outdoor Fire Pits on the property for his guests. They are first come first served. Be mindful of other guests. Firewood is available on site at no charge.

Can I park a Boat Trailer?

Yes, we have plenty of room to park your boat trailer.

What is the area known for?

Besides being the best Fishing pretty much anywhere, the Tri-City area is well known for NASCAR's Bristol Motor Speedway. Also, a every popular Rhythm & Roots Reunion Festival is in September each year. Bristol is also the "Birthplace of Country Music" with a museum showcasing the area in Downtown Bristol. This is just to name a few.

Am I always allowed to fish?

There is fishing allowed on many parts of the River all year. But from November 1 - February 1, Fishing is not allowed on certain parts that allow fish to spawn. Pappaw's Fishing Pad is in that spawning zone and cannot allow fishing between those dates. Other parts of the River are accessible for fishing.

Can I wade at Pappaw's Fishing Pad?

Yes, when the TVA is not releasing water you can wade across the South Holston River. Note, there is a large area to the right that is extremely deep (but home to a lot of fish!!)

When does TVA Generate?

TVA publishes their release dates and times. Be sure to know when these times are for your safety.

What other outdoor activities are popular in the area?

Tri-Cities offers many other outdoor activities besides Fly Fishing like hiking the Virginia Creeper Trail, biking the TVA Trails, kayaking down the Nolichucky, canoeing the South Holston River, wildlife viewing at Bays Mountain Park to name a few.
